Our Story: Why Letters Matter

In a world of instant digital noise, many elders feel forgotten by a society that moves too fast to listen. We believe that true connection requires more than a screen; it requires the quiet patience of ink on paper. Our handwritten correspondence offers something tangible to hold, a physical reminder that their life’s long story is valued and heard.
By honoring a slower pace, we provide the time and space for meaningful bonds to flourish, ensuring no one is left behind by technology. This is our mission: to bridge the isolation of the modern age with the warmth of a letter crafted by hand, dedicated entirely to their voice and their need for real human presence.
I have been a pen pal for years now and there is nothing quite like the magic of finding a personally-curated letter waiting for you in your mailbox. That's the joy I want to give to those who need it the most, our seniors and those who deep, meaningful social connection impacts & benefits the most.
In 2024, I piloted a pen pal program in Fredericton, New Brunswick, fostering bi-weekly connections with local care facility residents. Caregivers soon noted significant gains in the emotional well-being of participants, for whom my letters became a cherished bridge to the world. Seeing my cards and artwork displayed on their walls, and hearing their dictated or handwritten replies, revealed a deep need for this tactile friendship.
This experience inspired Our Evergreen Post.
